Most people in East Timor live in small villages. Traditionally their houses are made from bush materials like bamboo, wood and thatch. However, a small amount of people who live in the urban towns of East Timor generally have houses made of concrete.
Families generally grow crops of rice, maize and vegetables in the land surrounding their homes as a source of food to feed their families.
